These are "Profusion" zinnias. They grow 18 to 24 inches tall. They bloom from spring til frost. They are excellent border plants.

Poke berries. These are the fruit of the poke salad plant. It grows in fence rows, log piles, out your backdoor if a seed is dropped. My mom used the juice from these as ink, to write with when she was growing up. I think the berries would make a good dye for cloth or yarn. I am going to use it diluted, along with some other of nature's gifts to paint with, kinda like watercolor.

My Mr. Bumble Bee. I just love this insect.

Garlic chives. Very tasty garnish and can be added to stir fry.

Muscadine grapes. The most wonderful taste of any grape. This one makes wonderful jelly and fantastic wine!

The lowly Crab Apple. This is the first year I will have enough to make jelly out of, if I get to them before the deer!!

Autumn Sedum. The bees just love these flowers. They get bigger every year.

Knockout rose. I just love these roses!

These are Sumac berries.
I make pink lemonade from them. You have to be careful. because there is a poison sumac, and you don't want to pick the wrong ones.

This a wildflower called,"soapwort". It grows along roadsides. It supposedly will soap up if you crush it and rub it in your hands. I've not tried it. Very pretty though. Not too many really pink flowers out there.

Turtleheads

They look like turtle heads! They multiply well too. I have them all over my gardens.

Visit it today.
Today's flower is a Rose of Sharon.

Mellow Yellow Monday

This is a "Yellow Lady's Slipper". It is one of this country's true orchids.
It grows in the wild and is on the endangered list. We have 2 growing naturally on our place and about 200 that were saved when an area was clear cut. They are truly remarkable.

Enjoy!
