Sunday

I picked my first 2 ripe cherry tomatoes today. They were good but the skin was a little tough. Not enough water in the last week. I have watered just about every day, but it's not the same as a good soaking rain.
We need rain really badly. My beans are hanging full and blooming all over the place. My peas are just starting to bloom.
We have dug 3 messes of potatoes. I've picked 3 zucchinis, 2 yellow crooked neck and several cukes. I have spaghetti squash coming along. I'm not sure when to pick it. I'll google it and see. I can't wait to try it. It looks good when Rachel Ray cooks it.
I have photographed my sunflowers several times a day for the past 2 weeks. I just LOVE those things. They are so beautiful alone and they seem to be smiling when they are in groups. The bees are just loving them.

This is a cherry tomato I planted at the front porch. I am using the railings to tie the plant to. It just keeps on growing!!

This is the "tipsy" pots that I made in early spring. The volunteer sunflowers have taken over.
The birds scattered the seed everywhere and they all came up. I have sunflowers all ove the front and back yards.

I love sunflowers. The bees and other insects love them too. The birds have a blast when the seeds are ready to eat. This makes for some great photo ops when the birds are frighting over the seeds.

These are called, "walking onions"
The heads become a big head of little bulbs.
They taste like garlic/onion. I put them in my pickles I can and use them in stir fries.
They will come up everywhere one of the little
bulbs land. The birds carry them off and drop them. I love the heads cause they look like swan heads as they grow upright. Kids love them.

RAIN!!!

It literally, rained the lights out today. Lasted all of 10 minutes. Then sunshine and MUGGY!!

My green beans are loving it though. We will be picking beans this weekend. They are loaded with blooms.

The sugar snap peas are about gone. They don't like hot, humid weather. I will plant more for the fall.

Green tomatoes on all the plants. Just a matter of time on them.

We will dig a few new potatoes this weekend too. Can't wait!
